Almost done!

Quilted and trimmed...finally!  This quilt was a Christmas present for my father-in-law, but due to being sick due to the pregnancy, knowing it wasn't square, and some other things that came up I've been ignoring it.  Only the binding left now though!

Evelyn's quilt

I was a little behind in getting my niece's quilt finished for her, but the up-side was that I got to give it to her in person.  They live by a beautiful farm, so my pictures are more varied than usual.

A partial back.  The smallest middle piece has a heart.  The medium squares have flowers from Leah Day, and the big squares have circles and lines from Lori Kennedy.  The sashing has wonky diamonds from Angela Walters.  The flowers were surprisingly easy, but I had a bit of trouble with the spacing of the circles on the lines.  Not too bad, but not perfect either.

WIP Wednesday: treasure map

I haven't been as active on the blog (or just normal sewing for that matter) due to a baby boy coming!  (Expected Aug 1).  I recently hit the third trimester and can tell a marked improvement in how I feel...and therefore have started sewing again too.

Right now I'm working on the baby's quilt.  The nursery theme is going to be maps, so the quilt is a treasure map from Emily Cier's "Pixel Play".  I really liked the twin version better than the crib version, so I'm cutting all the measurements in half.  It makes for really small pieces (some 1" x 1" - including seam allowance), but I decided that if my points don't line up exactly I'd just be ok with that.

So far I'm on track to finish it by the time the baby comes...

Tulip Time Quilt Show

I went to the quilt show again this year.  I didn't submit anything since I wasn't exactly sure about my vacation plans, although in hind sight I wish I had.  Oh well.

Unparalled by Carol Vinnedge

Bargello top made by Ruth Kooiker, Quilted by Debra Becker, Designed by Eileen Wright.  (I always like Bargellos...it's in the back of my head to make one some day.)

Tulip Quilt made by Myrma Duthler, Quilted by Char Koppenol, Designed by Paragon 1956.  (I'm not a fan of the bulb on one of the tulips, but I really, like the rest of the design.)

The cross

Today being Good Friday, my family and I celebrated the death of Jesus.  So tonight I thought it fitting to work on the cross quilt.

The fabric was given to me by an aunt, so I thought I'd turn it into a quilt for her.  She has decorated her house with many items to remind us of God's love, so the symbol is fitting.  (It is also easy enough to put into a quilt based on value.)

After looking at the B&W version I realized the right side had a few more light squares than the left.  Besides that it is good enough...not perfect, but there is contrast as needed.

I currently have all the pairs put together and am starting four-squares tonight.  As long as the cat doesn't mess it up too much...she seems to think that fabric on the floor is for her and only for her.

Sarah's quilts

Sarah gave me the privilege of quilting two quilts for her again...and she was very understanding as it took me some extra time due to sickness.

The first one was her mom's.

The middle part was quilted with meandering stars.  Below was my favorite square.  This song kept running through my head while I was quilting it.

The outside border was a normal stipple and was my son's favorite part of the quilt.  He's into stars lately, since they are one of the two shapes that he knows.

I called this the blue quilt, but I guess there is a lot of white and green in it too.  Anyway, I loved the color combo...this picture doesn't show it well because I finally gave up waiting for a sunny day and took the pictures on a rainy day.

The quilting is wavy lines.

Hearts?

I received a quilting stencil for Christmas and finally tried it out.

It's supposed to be hearts.  But, as with many heart pantographs, I see something else completely.  And once I see it, I can't unsee it.  So I'm picking it out.

(If you can't see the problem, that's awesome.  I'm not going to spoil your day by telling you what I see...you can just move on.)
