Finished - countdown and rocket

I have the countdown and rocket finished and hung!   My son's room as a stars and planets theme.

See the little ball above the hanging?  That's Pluto.  It's supposed to be on the other side of the house, but I wanted to keep all the planets in his room.  (Also, the box that the planets came in said on the outside "new and updated information for Pluto!" but I couldn't find it.  The leaflet still said it was a planet.)

The numbers were paper pieced as a tester for Meadow Mist designs.  You can find them here. The binding job on this was horrible.  I'm not sure what I did wrong, but you can see that there are big lumps in the corners. 

I mostly quilted it with meandering stars, but I also put in a few yellow accent stars.  There are also some red flames quilted in the flame section, but they're harder to see.

I wanted a rocket at the bottom of the countdown, but couldn't find one.  So I designed it myself.  If you're also interested in it, you can get it here.

A skinny quilt

It might be a little silly to put such a small quilt on the midarm, but I don't really have another good way of quilting it.  So on it goes!  It's about 5" wide and quilting it is going really quickly.  Probably less time than it took to pin the backing on.

May accomplishments, June goals

1.  Finish HST quilt, ideally before the baby arrives.  I finished it as the baby was arriving, but due to a mail error it took an extra week to actually arrive at its final destination.

2.  Finish countdown and rocket.  I finished piecing it.  I still need to quilt it, but the quilting queue got a little long.

3.  Piece the individual squares for the fractured quilt.  Done!  I even got them all together and I love it.

8. Pillow for family room.  Since I had a ton of scraps from Fractured, I started piecing them together.

12. Baby boy quilt from jelly roll.   The cat would not get out of the picture.  I was lucky to get her on the side and not smack in the middle.

13. May Simply Solids block. 

16. T-shirt quilt (September).  This is my first time using interfacing.  I got it on three shirts before needing to change to something else.

17. Quilt castle quilt.  So far I'm putting Lollipop Flowers (Leah Day) in the nine-patch blocks.

For June, my number one goal is (for the Lovely Year of Finishes):

 

1. Finish baby quilt from jelly roll.  I need to fix the 2nd and 5th rows so they are offset, put everything together (with sashing), quilt and bind.  The baby is due July 7, so maybe I can even get it out before the baby comes for once.

Countdown and winnings

The other day I received some fabric from Lea at Podunk Pretties that I won in her giveaway.  I love it...I love blue and I love daisies.  I have a baby quilt in mind for it, but could end up changing my mind.  We'll see what happens.

I also finished the countdown top.  The numbers were a pattern by Meadow Mist Designs.  I think it might look better with a little more space between the numbers, but it is already pretty long.  So all things considered, I'm pretty happy with it.

WIP Wednesday

Good morning!  It's a beautiful day over here.

And I've made some progress this week!

I finished my random HST quilt.  It's currently in the wash and then it will get an official final post.  And none too soon!  I heard the baby was on the way (and might be here by now...I'm not the first to find out.)

 

I also finished my rocket for the countdown.  It didn't go together perfectly, but close enough for me.

And I started the Fractured Quilt...I'm loving it.

I also got two more quilts in the queue this week...I'm excited about both!  One of them is a T-shirt quilt so I'm waiting on the T-shirts and one is a pixelated 1-up mushroom.  I have ordered the fabric for that. :)

April accomplishments, May goals

I finished my top three goals for April, and I did it in time.  Hurray!

1. Bind Sarah's quilt.  (This shouldn't take long.)  Done - and it didn't take long. :)

2. Bind I-spy and bury threads.  (There are a lot of threads to bury, but it still shouldn't be too bad.)  Done!  The new owners seem to love it.

3. Finish Interlocking hearts.  (If all goes to plan, I'll have a few extra days before this is due.  Hopefully.) Done!  I did finish this a few days before it was due, but due to tons of rain it was still hard to get some good pictures.  I dropped it off at Hospice as a donation for their fundraising auction.

Since those things were finished in the first part of the month, I also worked on a few other things.
9. Pattern testing of some numbers.  Here are some of the numbers.  I'm working on making a rocket to go with them.

10. Quilt red quilt for mother-in-law. Done!

11. Random triangles. Half way through quilting.  I really like how it's turning out. And the quilting is going really quickly.

12. Fractured quilt.  I have the templates drawn.  I know - it's an exciting picture.

17. April Simply Solids block.  Done!
