Blogger's Quilt Festival: Baby Quilt

This is the latest baby quilt that I've made.  I've loved the look of random HST quilts.

I love the yellow color, but managed to hold myself bank and only include four yellow triangles.

I quilted it with wavy lines because I needed to finish it quickly because the baby was almost due!  I finished it the day the baby was born but then managed to send it to the wrong address.  Trust me, this is not something that you want to do.  I caught the mistake pretty quickly and the recipients were able to contact the front office, but it still took a few days before the office said they had it and a few more days before it was actually to the baby.  Hooray for honest people!!

At two weeks old, the little girl is 5 1/2 squares long.

I'm adding this quilt to the Blogger's Quilt Festival too.  I really love how it turned out.

Category/Number: baby quilts, #76 (note: I know also put this in the throw category in the linky by mistake.  I don't seem to have a red x to delete it, but am working on getting it fixed.  It turned out there were 75 entries in both categories at the time, so my double check that I was in the right category didn't work.)

I've finished my random HST quilt!

Since there are only a few yellow triangles, I tried to find a few yellow things around to highlight them.

The quilting is wavy lines on either side of the seams in both directions.  Pretty easy, but I really like how it turned out.  I really had wanted to include blue in the front, but decided there would be too many colors.  So I put a blue fleece on the back.

And a few more pictures.  I bound it in a sateen so that it would feel nice.

April accomplishments, May goals

I finished my top three goals for April, and I did it in time.  Hurray!

1. Bind Sarah's quilt.  (This shouldn't take long.)  Done - and it didn't take long. :)

2. Bind I-spy and bury threads.  (There are a lot of threads to bury, but it still shouldn't be too bad.)  Done!  The new owners seem to love it.

3. Finish Interlocking hearts.  (If all goes to plan, I'll have a few extra days before this is due.  Hopefully.) Done!  I did finish this a few days before it was due, but due to tons of rain it was still hard to get some good pictures.  I dropped it off at Hospice as a donation for their fundraising auction.

Since those things were finished in the first part of the month, I also worked on a few other things.
9. Pattern testing of some numbers.  Here are some of the numbers.  I'm working on making a rocket to go with them.

10. Quilt red quilt for mother-in-law. Done!

11. Random triangles. Half way through quilting.  I really like how it's turning out. And the quilting is going really quickly.

12. Fractured quilt.  I have the templates drawn.  I know - it's an exciting picture.

17. April Simply Solids block.  Done!

So here are my goals for May:

1.  Finish HST quilt, ideally before the baby arrives.

2.  Finish countdown and rocket

3.  Piece the individual squares for the fractured quilt.

And the other things that are still hanging around:

4. make the wall hanging for office.
5. pretend to work on scrap quilt.
6. finish green coasters.
7. Aunt's throw. 
8. Pillow for family room.
9. Jeweled floors.
10. Picture quilt (finish by Christmas).

Hey, the count went down again!  I'm always happy to see that, but at the same time I'd be sad if there was nothing to work on.

Random HST

Since I had three finishes this week, I finally started on some of the other things that I want to do.  (Three!!!  Two of the posts will be coming shortly.)  I laid out my random HST quilt today.  (Sorry for the lighting.  It's been a rainy week...another reason the finished quilts haven't been posted about.)

Anyway, I know these are appearing everywhere, but I thought I'd give a shout-out to a the first few that I saw and that inspired me.

January accomplishments, February goals

It's that time again!  I'll admit, I look forward to the month changing so I can take stock of what I've done.  I feel like I got a lot done this month, although I didn't get my top three completely done.

1. Finish duvet. Not finished, but close.  I mis-remembered the dimensions, so it is a little small.  Luckily, I sent it over for a test run before doing the final seam so it shouldn't be too hard to fix.  I do need some more fabric though.  Again.
2. Finish Adding Up Nicely.  Done!  I sent it the day before the baby came.

3. Quilt Sarah's quilt. Done!  With about two hours to spare.  I still need to bind it though, so this will be on February's list too.

4. Interlocking hearts quilt (finish by end of April).  I got several blocks finished, and I'm finally happy with the piecing templates that I have.  I still need to do two more magenta hearts and three more green hearts.

5. work on the I-spy quilt  (finish by mid April).  Progress was made on this too!  About 1/3 of the novelty fabrics are in the background fabric now.

6. make the wall hanging for office.  No progress.
7. pretend to work on scrap quilt.  Done!  I love hitting my goal on this one every month.
8. finish green coasters. No progress
9. Aunt's throw. No progress
10. Pillow for family room. No progress
11. Quilt map quilt. No progress
12. Another wall hanging for upstairs. No progress
13. Quilt red quilt for mother-in-law.  I now have all the pieces and could start.
14. Random triangles (finish by end of April).  Triangles cut!  I might end up cutting more yellow ones, we'll see.

15. Fractured quilt.  No progress
16. Jeweled floors. No progress
17. Picture quilt (finish by Christmas). No progress
Addition #1: Simply Solids Bee Block - February. Done!  I feel proud of myself for finishing over a month ahead of schedule.

                                


For February, my top three goals are

Hopefully I will be able to finish (or at least work on) a lot more, as I don't think the top three will take up too much time and I don't have any goals for the quilter.

Solids!

I got more solids a little bit ago.  Yay solids!!  They're for a baby quilt for a friend.  I'm going to make a random HST quilt, which is one of the quilts I added to my list just because I wanted to make one.

I haven't cut into these yet because I have other things to do first, but I really want to.  I'm sure it'll be fun!!

I'm thinking about making it about 5/8 neutral, 3/8 three of the colors, and then just a few of the fourth color.  But which color?  Yellow because it's bright?  Pink to make it stand out more?  Green or Purple just because?
