Don't Touch Me - tester giveaways

I had the privilege of working with two wonderful women who were willing to test out the pattern for Don't Touch Me.  They gave me some awesome feedback.  And it was so interesting to see how their quilts turned out!

For reference, this was mine.

Karen from K's Quilting Korner made it more scrappy and used a colored border.  It looks great!

Kat from Made with Love and Ladybug Hugs made hers in softer pastels.  It'll be perfect for a girl.

Don't Touch Me

I am proud to finally present "Don't Touch Me".  A quilt in which the colors only touch at the points and no color touches itself.

The back is lovingly called "Hug and Make Up."  I made all the colors touch each other.  Even the corner squares are actually two triangles touching each other.

The quilting is white and variegated thread.  All of the large and medium triangles have triangles in them, and the small outside triangles were also quilting.

The only thing I really don't like is how I tied the threads in the back.  About half way through I started tucking the tails back into the quilt and that looked a lot better.

One last picture...the wind helped get the placement just right.  I bound it in white so that no color would touch itself there either..

Also, I'm almost done with the pattern for this.  Is anyone interested in testing it for me?

Since I finally have a finish (!!)  I'll be posting to several places over the next week...Plum and June (Monday), Quilting by the River (Tuesday), Fabric Tuesday,  Whoop-Whoop Friday , Find a Friend Friday, and  Show off Friday.  Hmm, it appears that several of the places that only do finishes are on hold.  Oh well.

May goals

Here are the three things I really want to finish in May.

1. "Don't Touch Me"  - I just have the quilting and binding to do.
2. Create a pattern for Don't Touch Me

3. Finish quilting another baby quilt.

If time allows (haha) I want to do these things too...
1. Finish a shower curtain
2. Quilt another baby quilt
3. Try paper piecing and FMQ.  I was thinking of making some coasters.

April finishes

Ok, I don't really have a lot to show you. But I wanted to link up with Lily's Quilts, so I decided to do a summary anyway.

1. I finished my first pattern, Interlocking Pinwheels. I think the cool thing about this is that I can change the diagram colors to match the colors you're using.  No one has asked me to do that yet, but I figure there's still time.

2. I started "Don't touch me."  I'm quilting it right now, but quilting always takes me the longest.  I think I need to try a new technique so that it goes faster in the future.

 

Quilt 13: clothesline

I put up a clothesline last week. Partially to help dry baby clothes (they take forever in the dryer!) and partially for my quilts.

Although it was nice and sunny this morning, it was almost too sunny. The nice background direction shows the quilt back through the front.

So here is the uglier direction.

I'm in the middle of quilting. It takes me forever to do the quilting and I have several more waiting in line. I'm also using white thread to quilt white triangles on the white pieces. But here's my question...I don't have enough colored thread to do all the little outside triangles. How should I quilt that area? Just the white triangles? Sometime else?

Quilt 13: HSTs

I finished piecing my quilt for the festival of half square triangles!  I'm a little sad that I wasn't able to completely finish the quilt by the deadline, but I'm just not that fast.  I am really happy with how it turned out though.

The top is called "Don't touch me."  The colors only touch each other at their points and the same color never touches itself.

The back is "Hug and make up."  I even made the corner squares (that look solid) out of HSTs, to preserve the pieced look.

Quilt 13: top finished

This week I finished the top of the quilt I'm making for the HST festival.  I'm calling it "Don't touch me!"  (Sorry about the wrinkles.)

I just started the back...it will be "Hug and make up"

Whoop whoop Friday

I've started working on a quilt with HSTs.  (Half Square Triangles) (Speaking of which, shouldn't it be HTSs?  Then the adjective is triangle, and it describes the square.  Not squares describing the triangle.)  Anyway...I got a quarter of it put together today.  But the big yellow triangle seems to be the slightly small, so some of it might be coming back apart.

I also worked on making a pattern for interlocking pinwheels.  If anyone is interested in reviewing it, please see the details here.

WIP: it keeps changing

This (Quilt 11) is supposed to be my main WIP.  However, I don't have enough fabric for the back.  Maybe I'll try and get some tomorrow.

While waiting to get the backing for the quilt above, I started working on a shower curtain (project 12). It'll have a disappearing nine-patch.  I didn't realize that there was an easier way to make a disappearing nine patch until I had started to cut pieces, but after these are put together I'll start using the easier way.

Then I decided to join Canoe Ridge Creations' HST festival.  I'm not sure I can turn out a quilt in the allotted amount of time, but I can probably at least get it pieced.  And maybe I'll surprise myself.
